When I saw Brenda Quintana’s (Qbees Quest) easter basket, I knew I had to make one too. I like to give my 4 grandsons a little something for Easter but not too much as they get enough from the Easter Bunny. This basket is the perfect size for giving just a little something! It is made with the dies from the Meant to Bee set. I used the largest octagon die to create my basket. The finished basket (excluding handle) measures approximately 4 1/2″ wide x 3″ tall x 2″ deep which gives you more than enough room for some yummy chocolate.
Here’s the details on how to create your own basket.
Cut 2 of the largest size octagon from cardstock. Score at 3” on flat side (point will be towards the top).
Emboss larger part of octagon with your choice of embossing folder, I used Forever Plaid.
If you choose to stamp the flap, you should do that now. I decided not to stamp on the flap, but stamped on scrap Basic White, cut out and adhered to flap with glue.
Fold the flap over and adhere with Dimensionals.
For the middle part, cut a strip of cardstock that measures 2 3/4” x 9 3/8”.
Score on the short side on both sides at 3/8”
Score on the long side at 1 1/8”, 3 1/2”, 5 7/8” and 8 1/4”
Fold and burnish all score lines.
On both long sides, cut small V’s into each scored intersection.
Lay down flat and adhere the octagons to the middle tab first then continue with rest of tabs.
To create the handle, cut a strip of cardstock 11” x 1/2”.
Score each end at 1 1/8”.
Add Tear & Tape to entire length of strip, then add 11” length of matching ribbon.
Adhere the end tabs to the outside of the basket.
Decorate your basket as desired. I found an old retired stamp set that had some cute eggs in it so I stamped them, die cut and coloured with Blends. Then I added some Party Dots embellishments. On the other side I added a stamped greeting from the Storybook Friends, fussy cut and adhered with glue.
I hope you liked my little basket today and will think about making one yourself. Thanks for stopping by.
