Today’s card is a simple card using the Snowflake stamp from the Icon Imagery stamp set. When I first saw this card from Elizabeth Shannon of Elizabeth’s Craft Room, I knew I’d have to CASE it. You can find Elizabeth’s video here. I decided I’d like to make my card in blues. I started with a base of Thick Basic White, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. Then I added a layer of Blueberry Bushel cardstock 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″. I found some discontinued Balmy Blue Glimmer paper in my stash that I thought would be perfect and cut it at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and added to the card.
I took a piece of Basic White that measures 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ and lightly drew lines with a pencil. I started 3/4″ from the edge and then drew the next two lines 1/2″ apart. I randomly stamped the snowflake in Blueberry Bushel taking care that two of snowflake points lined up with the pencil line. I erased the pencil lines except for a tiny bit at the top and bottom. I used a fine tip blue marker to redraw the lines.
I coloured some large and small white Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems with the dark Blueberry Bushel Blend and then added the large ones to the middle of the snowflakes and randomly placed the smaller ones on the lines in between the snowflakes. I glued this to a piece of Blueberry Bushel that measures 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″. This was then adhered to the Balmy Blue glimmer with Dimensionals.
I stamped the words Peace and Joy in Blueberry Bushel on Basic White cardstock and cut with the small rectangle die from Iconic Imagery dies. These were then added to the card with Dimensionals and the “&” stamp was added between the two words inked in Blueberry Bushel.
I had so much fun making this card I also made it using Basic Black cardstock and White Glimmer Specialty Paper. I also used the white Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems.
Here’s the two cards together. Which one do you like better?
