I love these money wallets, they are a great seller at my craft fairs and they’re like a little present instead of enclosing some cash in your greeting card. With so much theft going on with the gift cards, I prefer to give cash. These paper wallets are great for Christmas/Birthdays and other occasions.
I started with a piece of Old Olive cardstock, cut to 7 1/2″ x 8″. On the long side (8″), score at 2 1/2″ and 5 3/4″. On the short side, score at 1/2″ on each side (or 1/2″ and 7″). Keep the 1/2″ scored part on the 2 1/2″ section and cut off the rest of the 1/2″ score on both sides.
I used the Floral Delight DSP (coming in the January mini catalogue) and cut at 6 1/4″ x 2″ for the top piece and 6 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ for the bottom piece. Adhere bottom piece of DSP to the bottom part of the wallet. Using a circle punch (I used 1 1/4″), cut a small half circle on the top of the bottom part of the wallet.
Using a corner rounder, I rounded the corners on the top flap and the bottom corners of the DSP. Note that when you corner round the DSP, you do the bottom as the flap will be folded over and the corner will then be at the bottom. Adhere DSP to top flap of wallet.
Fold the 1/2″ scored part towards the middle and add Tear & Tape. Fold up the section to make pocket.
Using the two smallest rectangle dies from the Nested Essentials dies, I cut the smallest one in Daffodil Delight and the bigger one in Old Olive. I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from Friends for Life stamp set in Old Olive on the Daffodil Delight rectangle and then glued the two rectangles together. Making sure that a portion of the rectangles hangs over the edge of the wallet, I glued them to the wallet. I used magnets to keep the wallet closed but you can also use velcro.
Make sure you only add adhesive to the top 1/2 or 2/3 of the rectangles.
Adhere one magnet with glue dot. Add other magnet to the first magnet. Add glue dot to the second magnet so that when you close the flap, the second magnet will be aligned perfectly.
