Smooth Sailing with the Sunrise Sailing Bundle

Who’s ready to set sail on a new stamping adventure? I’ve been having so much fun playing with the Sunrise Sailing Bundle, and today I’ve got a couple of fun and cheerful cards to share with you. It’s the kind of project that makes you feel like you’re out on the open water — sunshine on your face, waves gently rolling by, and seabirds calling overhead. (Okay, maybe it’s just paper and ink, but a girl can dream, right?) I really like the versatility of this bundle with the various sentiments you can create a card for almost any occasion. Plus, I’m always looking for masculine cards and this bundle works perfectly for that.

The cards are simple enough for a beginner but have lots of little details that make it extra special. The bright yellow sails against the calming sea tones just pop off the card. And those fluffy clouds? They add the perfect touch of dimension and whimsy. Let’s take a closer look at each of the cards.

This card has a base of Secret Sea 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. Add a layer of Darling Duckling 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″. Stamp some waves with Cloud Cover ink on a 4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Cloud Cover. Stamp sailboat in Secret Sea and Darling Duckling, cut out with die and hybrid embossing folder at the same time, add to card with Dimensionals. Stamp birds in Memento Black, die cut some clouds in Basic White and add with Dimensionals. Sentiment is stamped in Secret Sea on a Basic White label from Stylish Shapes Dies and added with Dimensionals.

This card was designed by Amanda Batek, (Amanda the Hoppy Stamper) and I first made it during a shoebox swap at a BBQ get together. I liked it so much I thought I would copy and share. Base card is Night of Navy, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. On a piece of Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ stamp the sailboat in Night of Navy and die cut. Glue the Basic White piece to the card (even though you’ve cut the boat out from the middle you won’t notice it as you’re still adding another layer). Emboss a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ with the embossing folder and adhere to card. Now take the die cut sailboat and glue to card right on top of the embossed sailboat. Add a white cloud. Sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy and just diagonally cut edges. Adhere some twine to the back of the sentiment and then add to card with Dimensionals.
